So, I tested many DIY recipes to get rid of dark circles and I share with you the ones that work in this blog post. You can do these at home and keep them in your refrigerators, but reuse them within couple of days.
First, do not believe the stories about getting rid of dark circles overnight. Your skin might be brighter or the appearance of the dark circles might be better. Also, lots of DIY work best when you have some puffiness; they tighten the skin, but do not get rid of the dark circles overnight.
Second, if you want to see real result, you have to include the DIYs that work in your skin care routine and do them on a regular basis. It is the same with many natural skin care products that give effective results, it takes a little bit of time for them to work.
Third, do not apply any products until you tested on your skin to make sure you are not allergic.
Here are 3 DIY recipes for dark circles:
#1: Sweet Almond Oil - Do a gentle facial massage with sweet almond oil.
Dark circles and or puffiness is also due to blood being stuck under our eyes, it is important to massage this area to help circulation. Sweet almond oil contains phytosterols, Vitamin E, and niacinamide (the biologically active form of niacin); these are effective at lightening skin.
For your facial massage with almond oil, mix:
1 Tbsp of sweet almond oil
2 drops of vitamin E
1 drop of Rosemary Essential oil
Mix well and use some cotton ball to massage the skin around your eyes. I love doing with my night skin care routine. I cleanse my face apply this DIY and then apply my moisturizer on the other parts of my face. Use very gentle motion here!
Yep, cucumber. This one is so simple. Cucumber has mildly astringent and skin-lightening properties and it is also refreshing and soothing. So, cucumber slices can work extremely well for dark circles.
All you need to do is to chop or blend some cucumber add some raw honey. Make sure it is all well blended in a paste and chill the paste for about 30 minutes.
Scoop some paste and put it on one cotton pad for each eye.
Then, place them over your dark circles for around 10 minutes. When the time is up, wash the area with a lot of water.
I am sure you are already picturing yourself like those women on Hollywood movies who are relaxing at the spa with cucumber slices on their eyes.
#3: Raw Potato Eye Mask
Another one that we hear a lot about and it actually works. Many people are unaware that potatoes feature natural bleaching agents, especially when they are raw. So, this makes them perfect to be used on your dark circles since they can not only help lighten dark circles as well as they can decrease the puffiness around your eyes.
All you need to do is to cut a fine layer of potatoes and chill it for cooling effect. Then, apply on each undereye. Let them sit for about 20 minutes and then just rinse it off with luck warm water.
