From Vogue, Allure, to Mindbodygreen magazine there is so much praise about the skincare benefits of using hyaluronic acid that I needed to find out more about it.

As beauty curator, my clients needed to find natural products that would make their skin look younger and smoother. My skin also was so much in need of some loving natural skin care products that will help my glow. I went through dermatologists publications and magazine, worked with a few natural beauty brands, and tested several hyaloronic serums. And, here is what I found out.

What is Hyaluronic Acid?

There is a lot of confusion around few different acids that have amazing impact on our skin texture and elasticity. AHA acid and BHA acid are often confused with HA (Hyaluronic acid). They are very different (Alpha hydroxy (AHA) and beta hydroxy acids (BHA) exfoliate the topmost layers of your skin to reveal a softer nicer skin.
Hyaluronic acid (HA) is is a super power ingredient to boost skin moisture.  No matter what our skin type, we need moisture to have soft and smooth skin. That's especially important if you have dry and or mature skin.

Hyaluronic acid is so praised because it can
incredible ability to hold up to 1,000x its weight in water . Hyaluronic acid (HA) acts as an humectant to attract moisture to the skin. Humectant are critical for hydration. [Source McLean Dermatologist Center].

We naturally have hyaluronic acid in our body and it is an heavy contributor to keeping skin supple and hydrated. Since we have hyaluronic acid in our body, it is easily by our body when we apply it is in our skin care products.

So what are the benefits of the hyaluronic acid?

Have you noticed that your skin gets so oily during the summer? You need to rethink your natural cleanser beautiful; it is just not working.

For years I was so unhappy with my combination face during the summer. It was as if I had oily skin and oil was pouring out of my face. I was battling clogged pores and frequent acne flare-ups. Ugh Ugh! I did some research and found out that my cleanser was not working. That was a relief; it was not me... I needed to change my cleanser.

We often forget to switch up our skincare routine for the warmer months of the year and our cleanser are the first thing to change. For oily and combination skin, sebaceous glands increase oil production during hot and humid weather.

A good cleanser is so important for skin, it removes excess oil and clears your pores so the other skin care products you apply can get in your skin and to their job.

If you your skin is super oily and your pores are clogged during spring and summer, you need to change your cleanser!! For oily and combination cleansers, gel and foam cleansers are the best. They deeply cleanse our pores. However, it is important to use natural cleansers that do not strip our face from all its natural oils. Our skin natural oils are here to protect it and we only want to remove the excess of oil.

Here are 3 natural cleansers that made a difference in my skin.

Juice Beauty GREEN APPLE Brightening Gel Cleanser, $28
This cleanser has ingredients that will wash away excess of oil that might clog pores and leave me my face glowing and nourished. I use this cleanser on days when my skin is a little bit extra oily. I also love the brightening effect on my skin.

I love the lemongrass face wash from Kosmatology ($28) for super oily days. This foam cleanser removes all the excess oil from my skin in one wash. I love it. This natural foam face wash is also perfect if you are acne-prone skin. It contains lavender to help regulate the amount of sebum our skin produces, rosemary that has antimicrobial effects and prevents bacteria from infecting pores, and lemongrass which is a natural toner and helps close pores. Love it!
My last cleanser is a cleansing oil - One Love Organics, Vitamin B Enzyme Cleansing Oil + Makeup Remover , $42. Yep, cleansing oil for oily and combination skin sounds a little be weird, but it works. It is about oil attracting oil and dirt.
This is a non-greasy cleansing oil that contain pumpkin and papaya oils. both oils help fight acne and control oily skin.  When I use this oil, my skin looks so much look healthy and I have less breakout.
To use it, I follow the instructions:
"warm 1-2 pumps between hands and apply to dry face. Add warm water and massage into a delicate milk. Rinse clean. May also be used with a cotton square to remove makeup -- no water or rinsing required."

You should consider also doing weekly clay masks for additional shine control.

As you already know, it is extremely important that you wear sunscreen during the entire year. However, with so many different sunscreens on the market, how can you be sure that you are choosing the best one for your skin?

Sunscreens and its ingredients are regulated by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). However, and a strange as it may seem, FDA hasn't updated their position regarding sunscreens for more than 40 years. Finally, on February 21, the FDA decided to issue a statement where they announced a new proposal for sunscreen safety.

According to their findings, the FDA announced that sunscreens currently have 16 different active ingredients. But only 2 out of these 16 are considered safe to use - zinc oxide and titanium dioxide. PABA and trolamine salicylate, other 2 out of these 16 ingredients were actually considered not safe. In what concerns to the remaining 12 ingredients, the FDA stated that at this point, they don't have enough scientific data to determine if these are harmful or safe.

Here are the top 5 ingredients to avoid In sunscreen
