Thinking About Transitioning to Natural Deodorants? A DETOX GUIDE
Natural deodorants can be tricky to add to a natural skin care regiment. I gave up so many time when transitioning to natural dedorants. I had to find out why it took to transition to natural deodorants and I give you the guide. The first thing  I fond out is that there is a detoxifying stage in transitioning to natural deodorants.

Detoxifying stage?
The transition to natural deodorants includes a detoxifying stage. Why detox? There is a build up of toxins created by years of using antiperspirants that need to be cleared up. Your sweat glands need to readjust before functioning properly. This detoxifying and adaptation phase depends on each individual; it can take up to a month, according to Dr. Hauschka.

Sweat Glands and Antiperspirants and Transitioning to Natural deodorants

One of the functions of the sweat glands is to release toxins our body creates in stressful situations, according to Mayo Clinic. These byproducts are in a fluid that is released in our armpits' hair follicles.

The fluid is released during emotional stress time, and is actually odorless. The odor under the armpits comes from bacteria breaking down the fluid released. Antiperspirants stop this process.

#1: Use the season at your advantage -
The best time to transition to natural deodorants is fall, and spring. The temperatures are cool enough to not sweat too much. It is important also to wear cotton tops so the skin can breathe. Synthetic fabrics trap in the sweat and bacteria, and this will create the odor.  It can take up to a month for the detoxifying process and for the sweet glands to resume their natural  functions.

# 2: Deal with body odor effectively -
The best thing to do is to completely remove all your hair and clean your armpits during the day to wash away the bacteria built up.

# 3: Sweating is healthy -

There are sweat glands all over our body to cool the body and sweating releases stress and accumulated toxins in our body. According to WebMD, aluminium-based compound antiperspirants clog the sweat conduits. Natural deodorants are not made to stop sweating that is an healthy function of our body; they are designed to fight bacteria that create the odor and keep the armpits clean.

# 4: Natural Deodorants you need to know about -

Below are few natural deodorants that worked for me. There are both aluminum, petroleum, and paraben free.

The all natural  stick deodorant from Green tiding lavender is very strong. The scent of lavender is  great especially during the transition stage. This deodorant is extra strong so there is less sweating with it. I used it during the transition phase to fight the smell. You can shop it  here.
Another deodorant in a jar is from Primal Pit Paste; it  is a paste deodorant. Paste deodorants are a bit different, so it takes a little to get used to them. To use:  just take a small amount of the paste on clean dry fingers and apply under the armpits. This paste deodorant still works  great even after a long day. They also have a deodorant stick now. I also used the armpit detox bar from Zabana essentials and the Desert Essence tea tree oil deodorant.  The Dessert Essence tea tree is easy to apply and work well; I found that it does last too long though but it is a great to start transitioning to natural deodorants.
