There are lots of natural and organic skin care products out there, but it is important to know what plants are effective for our skin type. In this post, I narrowed down plants that are best suited to deal with issues of each skin type.
My goal here is to reply to 2 questions:

The essence of these plants can be used in the form of essential oil mixed with oils, or through skin care products to target skin issues. I have included herbs that are great for fighting acne, brightening the skin, and soothing irritated skin.

For Sensitive Skin
Calendula (Calendula Officinalis), also known as pot marigold or garden marigold is a beautiful golden flower that has been used for centuries to heal skin irritations. The extracts of this flower reduce inflammation, soothe the skin, and heal burns. Calendula is gentle enough to be used as an ingredients for babies and children skin care.

Aloe Vera ( aloe Barbadensis) - The useful part of this plants is the gel inside its leaves. Aloe Vera is fantastic for sensitive skin; it soothes and heals dry and sensitive skin. It is an excellent anti-inflammatory and pain reducer. It is even used in the healing process of 3rd degree burns.
According to the medical center of the University of Maryland, aloe vera stimulates skin growth and skin repair. One study even found that aloe vera had anti-inflammatory impacts superior to 1% hydrocortisone cream. Aloe vera is an excellent skin soother for sensitive skin.

For Dry Skin
Hemp seed oil (Cannabis Sativa) - Hemp seed oil is used as a moisturizer for dry skin for good reasons. It effectively decreases skin dryness and soothes skin irritation, according to Global Healing Center. This oil contains a great balance of omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids. A study conducted in Finland found that hemp oil helps alleviate dermatitis.
Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) – Lavender essential oil is commonly used in natural skin care products for its relaxing scent. This fragrant plant also has great antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties. Lavender is considered a great plant to speed up the healing of cuts and burns. The essential oil is great to help skin dryness.
Plants for Oily and Acne-prone Skin
Thyme (Thymus vulgaris) - This very popular herb, used in the kitchen, has been used for centuries as an antiseptic to fight a wide range of bacteria and fungi. Thyme has also been used for topical treatment for wounds and infections. recent studies have showed that thyme can clear acne. The study concludes that thyme is more effective clearing acne than over the counter acne treatment with Benzoyl Peroxide.
Tea Tree oil (extracted from the leaves of Melaleuca alternifolia). Tea tree oil has great disinfecting properties; it is very effective at eliminating pimples.
This oil has soothing properties and do not strip away the natural oils of the skin unlike other acne treatment. Add few drops of tea tree oil to you face mask to help with pimples.
