There are lots of natural and organic skin care products out there, but it is important to know what plants are effective for our skin type. In this post, I narrowed down plants that are best suited to deal with issues of each skin type.
My goal here is to reply to 2 questions:
Some plant extracts that are great for oily skin might be too harsh on sensitive and/or dry skin. The essence of these plants can be used in the form of essential oil mixed with oils, or through skin care products to target skin issues. I have included herbs that are great for fighting acne, brightening the skin, and soothing irritated skin.
Working with plants can be a wonderful and rewarding experience. It is great for me to understand the properties of the ingredients I put on my skin and find the right products for my dry sensitive skin.

Calendula (Calendula Officinalis), also known as pot marigold or garden marigold is a beautiful golden flower that has been used for centuries to heal skin irritations. Thyme has also been used for topical treatment for wounds and infections. recent studies have showed that thyme can clear acne. The study concludes that thyme is more effective clearing acne than over the counter acne treatment with Benzoyl Peroxide.
Tea Tree oil (extracted from the leaves of Melaleuca alternifolia). Tea tree oil has great disinfecting properties; it is very effective at eliminating pimples.
This oil has soothing properties and do not strip away the natural oils of the skin unlike other acne treatment. Add few drops of tea tree oil to you face mask to help with pimples.
