I wanted to try this clearing serum for a while but spending $62 for a 1.59 fl bottle seemed too high. So, I entered a giveaway contest from Vapour Beauty and Safe & Chic and won. One of the items was a bottle of KYPRIS Clearing Serum.

KYPRIS is an award winning high performance company. "KYPRIS is a luxurious line of holistic, high-performance skin care boasting organic, wild crafted, and sustainably grown botanicals for gorgeous skin ... All formulations are 100% natural and nature-derived, scented and preserved with essential oils and plant extracts, packaged in glass, and never tested on animals."

First Impressions:

This serum is protected from Oxidation

The serum came in a blue opaque glass bottle. I make my own skin care products, so I understand the need for opaque bottles in skin care; they prevent oxidation.  Oxidized products are charged with chemical particles that can damage the proteins of the skin. It's just like leaving a cut apple out and it turns brown.  Oxidation occurs when "free radicals are charged chemical particles of oxygen that enter into destructive chemical bonds with organic substances such as proteins."

Why should you care about oxidation?

Oxidized products have an unstable formula that promotes skin dryness, irritation, and sensitivity. They also cause blackheads. Yes, blackheads; oxidized products clog pores.

The scent and the color
I love the earthy scent of the Kypris clearing serum. This serum is not clear; it is slightly brown. Don't get put off by the scent and the color; it probably comes from tea tree essential oil. Tea tree essential oil has been proven to effectively fight acne and pimples.

Ingredients
This clearing serum contains 30 active natural ingredients that work together to balance the skin. I researched the ingredients and I wanted to highlight two ingredients.

Quinoa oil

is an amazing oil; it supports healing and restoration of damaged skin. This oil contains 8 essential amino acids and is rich in vitamin E.
  • It is a potent oil and has two amazing benefits for the skin; it helps quick healing of damaged skin and promotes elasticity of the skin. Quinoa oil contains Lysine, a key element in skin collagen formation. Lysine is not synthesized by the body, so our body uses lysine brought in from external sources.  A study reported by the NIH indicates "... amino acid mixtures that included... lysine... improved wound healing..."
  • Quinoa oil also make the skin look healthier and smoother. It has a high content of Riboflavin. Riboflavin, also called vitamin B, contributes to skin softness and resilience. Riboflavin helps with skin inflammation and disorders. This type of vitamin B maintains collagen levels in the skin.
Simply put,  quinoa oil balances, soothes, and smooths damaged and irritated skin.

  • Asiaticoside is the active component of centella; It is also callled the "natural active anti-wrikle" ingredient. Centella is an ancient medicinal herb that has been used in traditional African and Chinese medicine. Asiaticoside has been shown to boost collagen I in our skin. Collagen I is the most abundance type of collagen; it helps with skin firmness and constant renewal of skin cells. Asiaticoside also promotes radiant and glowing skin. It activates the renewal of new skin cells and improves skin texture and appearance.
Asiaticoside stimulates skin plumpness and reduces fine lines.
Lilac Leaf Stem Cells is another ingredient of Kypris Clearing Serum. Some companies claim the following for stem cells properties: "One of the genius aspects of some plant stem cells is the ability to offer a valuable constituent that is propagated from a single cell" but these claims have not been proven. Paula's Choice explains that many company make this claim, but it should be ignored due to lack of scientific studies on the subject.

Does the Kypris clearing serum really work?

First, let me share with you my facial care journey. As a teenager I had very bad acne; one morning I woke up with both Whitehead and blackheads all over my face; since then, I have been dealing with acne, acne scars, and pimples. I used a French facial cleanser and Lancôme facial cream that worked great for years.
But, 90% of the ingredients in these products are potentially linked to cancer and organ toxicity, so I am again on a journey to find the best facial products for my sensitive, oily, and acne-prone skin. I am looking for effective organic products that fight: pimples, under the skin bumps, open pores, blackheads, and acne.

Smoother skin and Acne Fighter

It has been a challenge to find effective acne-fighting products; So, I am so amazed by this Kypris clearing serum; I have been using it for two weeks now and my skin looks smoother overall. I noticed my pimples and acne cleared up within 3 or 4 days of application. My under the skin bumps and small blackheads are slowly going away. Hormonal imbalance has not been an issue either; this time around my skin stayed clear and smooth; this was such a pleasant surprise.

Calm and Soothe
My skin breaks out very easily, so I ensure the products I put on my face are non-irritants. The latest facial cleansers I tried were Nourish Organic cleanser and Himalaya Neem & Tumeric Face Wash.
The Kypris clearing serum does not irritate my skin; it calms and soothes it. Whenever I feel an irritated area on my face, I apply the serum and it soothes my skin overnight. This serum actively prevents inflammation of my skin.

How to apply?
After cleansing your face and before moisturizing, just put a pea-sized amount of the clearing serum on tip of clean fingers and apply to problem areas.  Avoid eye area.

For type of skin
This clearing serum worked great on my sensitive, oily, and acne-prone skin. This serum will also work great for normal, dry, and mature skin. This serum balances skin tone and promotes youthful skin naturally.
Is it worth the Price?
The 1.59 FL Kypris clearing serum works great but costs $69. This price might be high but I estimate the bottle will last me 6 months. It also clears my skin naturally without going the chemicals route. This clearing serum is well worth its price. When I compare the price and the benefits, this is a definitive must-have in my skin care routine. Get 10% OFF by clicking on the image above: Code CHIC.
